·         If you are applying for the 600 hour Massage and Hydrotherapy Program or the Basic Facial and Make Up Specialist Program, you may speak directly with any school administrator regarding your financing options.

Once all information is provided to complete your application, you will receive notice of the award amount. PLEASE NOTE: The amount of your loan may not cover all expenses. Therefore, we do offer additional financing options to all students for remaining balances. You may speak with any school administrator regarding these options prior to or at the enrollment appointment.

Financial Aid Packages

When you apply for aid from the Office of Financial Aid, you do not apply for a particular type or amount of aid. Applicants who complete a financial aid file are considered for all available aid programs that are administered by SCHI.

Who Should Apply For Aid?

Students must have obtained a high school diploma or GED in order to apply for financial aid. The only way to tell if you're eligible to receive aid is to apply for it. Many factors are considered when awarding aid. You don't have to be poor to qualify, but you do have to prove you need aid. You must apply for financial aid each year. Your financial needs may change and must be re-evaluated.   back to top

Application Forms

Complete and mail the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1, or apply online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Applying for financial aid involves lengthy processing and mailing time between agencies in widespread locations. Applying early and following up on your application is the best way to receive the assistance for which you qualify in time to begin school.      back to top

 Common Mistakes of the FAFSA

Marital Status

You must report marital status as it is on the date you file the FAFSA/Renewal FAFSA for all individuals about whom you give information. If you are not married as of the date you sign the FAFSA/Renewal FAFSA, check "unmarried" even if you plan to marry during the award year. Intended spouses cannot be included in household size. If your parents are both living and married to each other, answer the questions about them. If your natural mother and father are divorced and the responsible parent has remarried, when indicating parent's marital status, mark the box that says "married" and include income/asset information for both parent and stepparent.

Number in Household

Include the number of people that you/your parents support and will continue to provide more than half their support during the award year. Include your unborn child if that child will be born before or during the award year. Also include your parents' other dependent children who will be attending post-secondary schools, and always include yourself, the student.

Number in College

Include only household members who will attend college during the award year at least six credit hours per term or 12 clock hours per week. Do not include your parents. Students must be working toward a degree or certificate leading to a recognized educational credential.

Frequently Asked Questions

 What is Financial Aid?

Financial Aid is money provided to students to help meet school costs.

What types of financial aid and assistance are available at SCHI?

Loans are available to students or their parents at low interest rates with repayment usually deferred until the student graduates. The assistance programs are available for all programs and include in-house interest free financing and Sallie Mae career training loans.

What are the qualifications?

To qualify for financial aid you must prove that you need assistance. Need is the difference between the amount you and your family can contribute and the cost to attend the college of your choice. The primary responsibility for your educational expenses belongs to you and your family.

How do I apply?

There are three steps to applying for financial aid at SCHI.

What do I do next?

While you are waiting for the Student Aid Report (SAR) that will be generated as a result of filing of the FAFSA, you should contact the Records/Admissions department of SCHI to make sure your records are complete.
Once you receive your SAR, you must contact the Financial Aid Office to see if any information is needed to complete your financial aid file. The information from your SAR will be forwarded electronically to SCHI but it may be necessary to submit additional documentation. Your SAR is not a financial aid award. SCHI will send you an Award Notice informing you of the aid for which you are eligible.

 Will I have out-of-pocket expenses?

Yes, you may have some out-of-pocket expenses while waiting to receive your aid. It is important for you to fill out your application and return your paperwork in a timely matter. This will ensure that you receive notice of the award amount and have sufficient time to make other financial arrangements if need be.

When will I receive my financial aid loan?

If you are receiving a loan, disbursement time frame may differ.  Students will receive a loan disclosure statement from the guarantee agency with projected disbursement dates.  First time borrowers and borrowers enrolled in a new program of study will have their loan funds held 30 days from the first day of classes.      back to top
